Fishing has continued to be very good lately. The water is very low but with cooler nights and cooler days the water temp has been much lower than in recent weeks. Small nymphs like Olive Hares Ears, Realistic Caddis Imitations and Pheasant Tails along with Golden Stones have been quite productive in the early morning and late evening. Last night on the Winooski, I started to see a few ISO’s hatching around 7:30. We didn’t see any fish rising to the ISO’s but found a few trout willing to take a #12 Golden Kaufman Stonefly. Landing only one but hooking into a few others. The one landed was a 14-15″ brown that was quite chunky and colored up. We have some thunderstorms in the forecast for the next week, with these we are going to get some rain. If we get any substantial rain the tribs of larger rivers are going to come up which should get a few brown trout to migrate up them to stage up for the spawn. For the next month or so this will be occurring, giving you an opportunity to take the fish of the year in some pretty skinny water. On the Winooski we’ve been pulling nice fish out of the fast, shallow riffles on both nymphs and swinging streamers. Good Luck out there~Parker
