This is one of the simplest trout recipes around! If you are stream-side, this recipe is great over a camp fire!
1 whole (10 ounce) trout, cleaned, head & tail removed(or not…)
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 yellow onion, chopped (feel free to substitute with leeks, scallions or ramps)
1/2 lemon cut in slices
1 teaspoon dried dill
1 teaspoon butter (or a drizzle of oil)
salt & pepper to taste
1. Heat up grill to medium high heat.
2. Fill the cavity of the trout with the garlic, onion, and lemon. Rub trout with butter or oil, and place on a large piece of foil. Season with salt, dill and pepper. Seal trout in the foil.
3. Place trout in the middle of the rack on the grill. Cook approx. 25 minutes or until easily flaked with a fork.
