Over the last few days I’ve been out on the Lamoille River. All in all the flows have been moderating and wade fishing is becoming more accessible. The clarity is VG at what I term typical “Lamoille clear.” Temps are in the mid 60’s. Beware that the impending hot weather this week will drive temps up; so use your thermometer to check for places offering thermal refuge.

Rainbows have been caught both above and below Morrisville and now fairly distributed rather in pods.  However, the trout below Cady’s Falls, that have been in the river longer through all of the high water, appear to be in better fighting shape. A bit fatter and feistier.

As far as flies are concerned, nymphs with hot spots and bunny type streamers have proven to work the best for me. Streamer colors that have worked are black, yellow and olive.

That’s it for now. Good luck on the water. JC
