Part of the proven Hardy Lightweight series of classic reels designed for small waters, the Hardy Featherweight is the mid size at 2 7/8". Introduced in 1960 to bridge the size gap between the Flyweight and LRH reels it superbly handles double taper 4 weight (DT4) fly lines. The Featherweight has continued to be extremely popular on cane and glass rods as well as modern graphite small water rods. It is a great match for use with the Hardy Classic Lightweight fly rods. The Featherweight's high grade aluminum alloy construction allows it to weigh in at a mere 3.37 ounces and it's proven, adjustable click check continues to protect delicate tippet. Over the years Hardy has improved the Featherweight with stronger, lighter alloys and more precise manufacturing techniques but all the Lightweight series reels remain gems of simplicity and reliability. This is for a 4 or 5 wt rod.
