The fishing has remained pretty good lately. A few slower days but conditions are getting much better. The rain has helped, we could definitely use quite a bit more and it looks like we’re going to get some early next week. The Winooski was a touch off today in Waterbury, still fishable for sure but it wasn’t crystal clear like it had been. Fishing will be best during the mid day and afternoons over the next week as our air temps and water temps remain cooler than they had been. Still been seeing a variety of bugs coming off, lots of BWOs and a decent amount of ISOs still. Smaller cream mayflies have also been coming off in the afternoons along with Caddis sporadically throughout the day. The dry fly bite has been good and when it’s not on we’ve been able to nymph up fish on a variety of patterns. Fish are going to be slowly phasing out of the pocket water and into the slower deeper pools as water temps continue to drop. As of right now we’ve found them in riffles, pocket water and slower, deeper pools. Over the next few days if the water gets off colored from the rain don’t be afraid to throw some streamers. Some bigger fish around may start getting more aggressive and respond well to larger flies. We’ve had trips on both the Winooski and Lamoille river over the past week. Kinda all over the place but the cooler water temps have allowed us to fish the lower sections of these rivers with some good success lately. Things should be good out there this weekend. Go Fish!!
