Well, it looks like spring is finally here to stay. The weather the past few days has been fantastic, and it is only going to get better. the 5-day forecast is looking quite promising, everyday it is expected to get into the low to mid 70’s which should help warm the bigger rivers up a bit. Right now the Winooski is fishable, high and off colored but can still be fished with a sink-tip and big streamer. The Lamoille is continuing to drop and is going to be the better choice if you’re looking to fish something bigger. A lot of the smaller streams are relatively low, most have crystal clear water and in some of these streams the fish are going to be super spooky. However, expect everything to come up a bit during the day as we have more snow run off, the waters will start to come up around noon and then drop back down late in the evening. The Willoughby is in full swing now as far as steelhead go, if you’re thinking of heading up there be sure to get there early, getting an early start will be key as often these fish will stop biting once the sun gets above the tree line. Egg flies, san juan worms and stoneflies have all been taking fish up there.
