Things have been improving daily for us with. With the warm weather we’ve been having everything is starting warm up quite a bit. We’ve still been seeing Hendricksons, Stoneflies, and Caddis flies. Rivers in our area are now getting stocked, the Winooski in Waterbury has been stocked with the “trophies” as well as Fairfax on the Lamoille. Other sections of these rivers will continue to be stocked over the next few weeks. We should see more bug activity on the moving waters as they continue to warm up. Hatches so far have consisted of Hendricksons, Black and Brown Stoneflies and some Caddis flies. It may be a little while until we start seeing fish coming up to feed on these flies, however with the water warming up we may see that sooner than expected. As for the migratory runs, the steelhead rivers are still fishing well, but with low, clear water, as stated in previous posts be sure to get there early. As the sun comes up, downsize and fish more natural patterns such as caddis pupa and stonefly nymphs.
