River Conditions: 6/10/16

Water Clarity: Clear- Winooski is still stained but fishable

Water Temperatures:  55-65

Hatches: Golden Stoneflies, Olive/Brown Caddis Flies, Hex, Sulphurs

Suggested Patterns:  Smethursts 20 Bomb, Chart. Copper Johns (#14-16) Pheasant Tails (#12-18) Hare’s Ears (#14-18) Bird of Prey Olive (#14-16) Hotwire Caddis (#14-16) Hare Copper-Golden Stone, Sparkle Minnows, Montana Mouthwash, Muddler Minnows (#4-8) Olive Wooly Buggers (#6-10)

Looks like it’s going to be a great weekend of fishing. Pretty cool out there right now as was yesterday. Water temps are continuing to cool down into the mid-upper 50’s and the fish are happy. We floated the Lamoille yesterday and are floating it again today. The fishing was good yesterday, most fish were caught on a Wooly bugger with a sink-tip leader. I’m sure the trips today up there will do well fishing the same way as yesterday. Most of the fish were pretty deep, lots of follows yesterday and lots of fish half heartedly taking the fly. Most of those fish were not hook but having said that they still put over a dozen fish in the boat. Could even run into one of those rogue lamoille river brown trout on a day like today. The water was a little off-colored but it’s probably running crystal clear or very close to it today. The Winooski is still a little dirty but definitely fishable. Streamers and larger nymph patterns will be the way to go in the dirtier water. Aside from those, all of the smaller trout streams around are fishing pretty well. Expect to fish  little bit of everything this weekend as far as flies go. Just depends on where you are and what the fish are responding to. Good luck out there!!!
