The fishing has remained fairly consistent over the past week. The bigger rivers are still running warm and low but all of the small to mid sized streams are much cooler. Hopefully the weather will turn soon and we’ll be able to get out on the larger rivers again. That generally happens between now and Sept. 15th depending on weather. Once that happens the majority of the Winooski and Lamoille will become fishable again which is super exciting! We’ve been spending lots of time on the smaller streams and have noticed that the brookies are really starting to color up for the fall and have gotten even more aggressive than they already are! We’ve seen some larger ones coming out to play as well. Hoppers have been very productive as well as Chernobyl ants and Beetles. The Little River below the Reservoir has been another productive area to fish lately. We haven’t had any epic days as far as numbers go but there’s some monsters in there willing to play. Looking at the 10-day forecast right now it looks like things are going to cool down at the end of next week. Even a couple nights in the 40’s. Hopefully that happens as we could definitely use some cooler weather to help turn things on!
