Not too much new to report today but the end of this week is looking pretty sweet! Thursday and Friday we’re forecasted for a high temp of the upper 60’s!! Hopefully that type of weather pattern will stick around. I think it’s safe to say the mid 80’s have overstayed their welcome. With Septemeber right around the corner things are really going to turn on soon. The Salmon run will be upon us before we know it and the trout in the Winooski and Lamoille river will become more active when the water cools off! We’ll see lots of BWOs hatching on basically everyday it’s cloudy or a little drizzly between now and the end of October. We’ll also see some bigger Orange Caddis flies hatching in #8-12s. Hopefully we’ll get a taste of fall at the end of this coming week. If the water temps drop things will pick up in a big way on the larger streams. Between now and then, sticking to the smaller streams or doing some bass fishing is going to be your best option. The headwaters of the Winooski and Lamoille may be fishable after today as the night temps are going to drop a bit which should cool the smaller sections of water off enough to be fishable.
