Kinda feels like fall out there this morning. We got some very heavy rain yesterday here in Stowe but it wasn’t wide spread. Some areas got pounded others hardly saw anything. The Winooski yesterday evening looked fine in Waterbury but this morning was a different story. Not even that high, but definitely too dirty to fish. We’re going to see more showers over the next few days which will continue to cool streams off and bring levels up a bit which will help out. Even after the rain we got yesterday there’s a lot of streams that are pretty bony. We’ve been having good success on Hoppers, Beetles and Stimulators on top and good luck with smaller Pheasant Tails, Hare’s Ears and Bird of Prey down below. The streamer bite could be good in some streams over the next few days as well with the rain we’re going to be getting. With the flows coming up, the fish may spread out a bit more as there’s more fishy water than when it was super low. This goes for everything from the little brook trout streams to the larger rivers. We’ve been seeing BWO’s hatching over the past few days as well. I was guiding yesterday and we were seeing them come off although the fish definitely preferred something a bit larger than the BWOs. We fished to a few risers with BWOs but ended up going to a hopper to get them to eat. Good for us… The fishing over the next few days should be pretty awesome throughout the water shed. Good luck out there!!
