Not a whole lot new to report. Water levels are still super low! Water temps have been in the low to mid 50s, the warmer days we’ve run into some BWO activity with some fish rising. We’ve also seen a few big flying ant hatches over the past week, that will probably be winding down, or totally over at this point, but fish will still be looking for ants. We’ve been getting some fish on streamers, mostly smaller muted colored flies-wooly buggers, muddlers etc… Fish have still been eating nymphs; the usual suspects have all caught fish. And for dries, BWOs, ants and some bigger parachute adams. Overall its been tricky, water levels are low and everything is super clear. The fish are spooky/ We’ve still been finding most of our fish in the faster riffles, although we did get into a few fish in some of the deep slow pools on streamers.

Been getting some calls regarding the Landlocked Salmon runs, there are fish around but with the low flows they’re definitely being more fussy, and a lot more concentrated in where they’re hanging. Be sure to have some small trout nymphs, and light tippet if you go after landlocks. We do have some rain in the forecast, although not a lot, we’ll take whatever we can get. For those getting out this week, focus more on the bigger rivers, take advantage of the low water and go do some walking, find some hard to get to spots that are now easier to get to since the waters super low. There’s some big fish out there that most of the year are almost impossible to get to, that are going to be a lot easier to fish to right now. Good luck to everyone getting out!
