Not too much new to report. Lots of the smaller streams have drained and cleared up and the fishing has been incredible! We’ve been running into some great brookies in the smaller streams! Some of the smaller streams are still dirty, there will be lots of excavation/road/stream repairs occurring over the next month so don’t be shocked if you go to fish a stream and it’s at a great level but super dirty! A few of the streams we’ve hit still had enough water in them that the fish seemed less eager to eat a dry, if that’s the case, a small #12 bugger will get the job done!

Some of the mid sized tribs are back to a fishable level, although water temps may be creeping up a bit on them. Looks like we may get hit with a good storm this evening-not what we need…. The smaller streams may be a bit blown out tomorrow morning but it’s tough to predict until we see what we actually get for rain. Only one more hot day, then the air temps will drop quite a bit! The small brook trout streams, and some lakes and ponds will be the most viable option for a while. The big rivers could remain muddy and high for several more weeks (hard to really predict yet)

If you’re getting out over the next few days, have a plan b, c and d. Lots of roads to access the smaller streams may be closed, or still washed out so be sure to have a few spots in mind. Also be mindful that a stream you fished last week may look totally different, pools will be gone, and new pools will appear. The stream bottom, and rocks along the banks may not be very stable. Watch out for tippy rocks and avoid climbing or standing on them as you never know when one may be right on the edge of rolling over. Good luck out there!
