We got more rain the other night which wrecked the Winooski, it didn’t come up too much but turned to complete mud. It will be fishable in a few days but for now fish the tributaries. The Lamoille is in better shape right now but is still off colored. It was pretty cool this morning and the fish were pretty active and very willing to take a nymph dead drifted under an indicator. The other tribs are still a little on low side but the temps are good and the fish are happy! The fishing over the next few days should be pretty good on all of the small to mid sized streams fishing both dries and nymphs. We haven’t seen any hoppers out yet but over the next week or so we should begin to see them out and about. A great time of the year to hook a potential giant on a dry fly. Also a great time of the year to fish a dropper nymph back behind your dry fly. There was a mix of bugs on the water this morning including small tan and olive caddis, and some sallies here and there. Good luck if you get out over the next few days and have a happy and safe 4th!
