The fishing over the past week has still been tricky. Having said that, we’ve still been getting fish. Some of the Brook trout streams are in great shape right now, if they saw rain two nights ago they’re awesome! Those that missed that rain are wicked bony. Temps are good on them but if you’re in one of the thinner brooks you’re going to have to make longer casts and fish with smaller flies. Stay out of the water as much as possible and avoid casting over where you plan on putting your fly. Cast along the edges and when you go to lay it down on the water only then bring your line and fly over the water. If it’s super bony fish will be spooked by a fly line repeatedly being cast over them.

The weather is looking decent for the next week now. Some showers and thunderstorms, a few warm days but more towards next weekend we’re going to see more weather like what we saw over the past few days. Cool at night with temps during the day in the low 70s. If we see a week of weather like that and a few showers the bigger rivers could be back in business. Hopefully theres still fish in them. On a warm water note, we’ve been doing pretty well on the bass game. Both stillwater and rivers have been pretty productive. A few of the lakes we’ve been fishing the bass have been pretty deep but we’ve still been picking away at them. On the river front, terrestrials have still been doing pretty well along with some bait fish patterns. Zonkers, Clousers and Wooly Buggers have all gotten some fish as well as dead drifting larger stonefly patterns.

Things should continue to improve over the next week. if you’re getting out this weekend your best bets going to be small streams or going bass fishing! Good luck
