September is finally here and it feels like it! Much cooler out there today than it has been. It does look like things are going to warm back up a bit by the early part of next week. Night temps will be a bit cooler though which will help things out quite a bit. The fishing should be good this weekend with the cooler temps and the bigger rivers should be fishable. The Lamoille yesterday in Wolcott was 64 and the fish were happy about it as were our clients! Had one HUGE brown come up and take a look at a dry but he never actually ate it. Still cool getting to see a fish like that. Still a few tricos around, we’ve been seeing lots of ISO shucks in the mornings, swinging a larger pheasant tail through the fast water is always a great way to imitate these very active mayflies. We’ve been getting the majority of our fish on dry flies over the past couple of days, not to say that’s the only thing they’re eating but whenever clients, especially beginners can get a fish on top we try to make that happen as it can be much more exciting and much more visual than watching a bobber go under. It won’t be long now till we can get after LL salmon and steelhead!!! The Salmon are just starting to show up on the Salmon River and it won’t be too long till the steelhead start coming in! Once things continue to cool off a bit more and we get some rain the Salmon around here should start showing up as well!
