Stowe Historical Walking Tours




Starting September 14th Tours run Daily at 11am-12:30, 1:00pm-2:30pm and 3:00pm-4:30pm 

The cost is $100 for up to four people, each additional over four (4) is an additional $25 


Join us for a 1.5 hour walking tour through the history and charm of Historic Stowe Village. We’ll stroll around the village experiencing the architectural styles favored in New England during the 18th and 19th centuries. And of course stories and accounts of the persons who’ve given Stowe its rich and colorful story.


Advanced reservations through GoStowe are necessary. The cost is $100 for up to four people, each additional over four (4) is an additional $25. We meet at the Stowe Area Association/Go Stowe building in the heart of the Village on Main St. Please show up no less than 15 minutes prior to departure. Sometimes the tour route varies due to client questions and interests. Since this is an outside walking excursion, please note that we could cover 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 miles. Also consider weather. We head out sun or rain, so be prepared with the proper clothing, sunscreen, hats, etc., and water.

COVID-19 Update

  1. All Guides will be required to wear face covering and gloves at all times.
  2. All clients will be required to wear a face covering and gloves. Face coverings are for sale at the Fly Rod Shop if clients would like to purchase them before the trip. Vinyl Gloves (S, M, L, XL) will also be available for clients. 
  3. Clients will be required to sign a COVID-19 liability waiver prior to the start of the program. 
  4. All Fishing gear (boots, waders, fly rod, flies, etc.) are provided for fishing trips. All waders and boots are washed and cleaned after every use. Waders are sun dried as a precaution to COVID-19. Fly Rods will also be washed after each use. 
  5. Clients are responsible for transportation to the Fly Rod Shop and to the fishing location. THE FLY ROD SHOP WILL NO LONGER BE PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION.
  6. Clients are required to have a fishing license. Licenses can be purchased at the Fly Rod Shop or online at the Vermont Fish and Wildlife website. Clients must have a valid fishing license on their person during their fishing trip.
  7. All Guides and Fly Rod Shop Staff have completed the COVID-19 training offered by the State of Vermont as well as First Aid/CPR certified. 
  8. All programs will be privatized. No additional groups will be added to programs due to COVID-19 precautions.

Tipping your guide:

Guiding is hard work. It’s our goal is to give you a safe, fun and educational experience that will leave you wanting more. If you’ve enjoyed your trip, tipping 15% -20% (or whatever you deem acceptable) is encouraged. Let them know how much fun you had!


At a minimum, all of our guides are basic first aid and CPR certified by the Red Cross. The guides are there to make necessary decisions to ensure everyone’s safety, and to help if an emergency situation should arise.

    Cancellation Policy: 

    All tours may be cancelled at any point more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled tour without penalty. Cancelations within 48 hours will result in forfeiture of the trip. Trips may be rescheduled within 48 hours granted there is availability.

    • We are not liable for any loss, damage or injury sustained to participants or personal property.
    • Due to fluctuating fuel costs and other factors, The Fly Rod Shop reserves the right to change guiding rates at any time.
