Well now that May is almost here, winter decided to show up one last time to rub salt in the wounds. Water temps are going to cool down and have already with the cooling night time and day time temps.  Not a huge deal though, temperatures are going to be warming back up tomorrow and it looks like we’re going to be in for an awesome weekend! The trout fishing is going to remain fairly similar to what it has been over the past week although by the weekend things might start to pick up in a big way. The lake fishing has also picked up for bass and pike. Bass right now in lots of bodies of water are in the pre-spawn feeding frenzy, pike are just wrapping up spawning on lots of lake right now too. If you’re going to be hitting the water in the next couple days, like we’ve said before you may have better success on some of the smaller streams right now over the bigger ones. You can definitely be successful on the bigger rivers right now but in a lot of places there may be fewer fish in the bigger rivers and you’re going to have a lot more water to work through to find the fish. On the smaller streams, the fish should be easier to locate due to the fact that there’s less water for them to be in. With the upcoming warmer weather we may start seeing some Hendrickson’s hatching but the fish may not be ready to respond to them yet. I would be sure to have a couple dries in your box at this point, just don’t get your hopes up if you don’t tie one on for a couple more weeks. For those of you looking to book trips, we’ve got guides available everyday and we also have the big boat out and we’re getting ready to target warmwater species! Give us a call! Good luck out there.
