The fishing has been outstanding the past few days. The main part of the Winooski was 62 yesterday evening and the fish were happy! Got lots of fish nymphing and a few on dries as well. Quite a few bugs hatching but the fish didn’t seem to key in on them that well. Thing will continue to fish well throughout the next few weeks as the water temps remain cool with the cooler weather. We’re forecasted to get some rain which is much needed at this point. The fish were easy to find yesterday and stacked up. Given how low the water is the fish are piling into any areas that have a bit more flow and oxygen. If you get one, there should be plenty more. Out of one little run we stuck close to 20 bows in a couple of hours last night. I think only 10 were landed but it was good. The Bird of Prey in Brown took the most fish, always a fly that seems to work very well in the fall! The rain we get may blow out some of the bigger rivers for a day or two but that won’t be the end of the world. It’ll just make the fish even happier than they are right now. Over the next few days don’t worry about being on the water at first light, the fish have become a bit sluggish at first light from what we have seen. We had a trip out the other day that fished from 10-2 and they picked away at fish in pocket water on both nymphs and dries the whole time! Good luck to everyone getting out this weekend! Should be awesome!!
