The fishing has continued to be great for us lately! Mostly smaller mountain streams but the fish have continued to be happy! We’ve gotten a little rain over the past few days which actually helped the smaller streams, the big rivers definitely don’t need any rain but it is what it is. We’ve spent some time on some of the larger tribs of both the Winooski and Lamoille over the past few days and found that the levels and temps to be good. Been able to get some nice wild and stocked fish out of several different tributaries. It’s amazing how fat even the stockies from this spring are, lots of food and lots of water makes for happy fish! We’ve been seeing decent bug activity too which is always a good sign after a high water event. You never know what makes it and what doesn’t!
It does look like we’re going to see a decent amount of rain on Friday, just what we needed. In the meantime, as mentioned in the past several reports go hit a mountain brook trout stream! The fishing is as good as it gets right now for them so take advantage of it. Any bushy dry flies that float well will catch plenty of brookies! Good luck to everyone getting out!
