Seems like the majority of the rain that was going to fall wednesday missed our area, conditions are going to be great this weekend! Over the past 4 days we’ve been fishing a variety of different water. The Lamoille has continued to fish really well, that did come up a bit Wednesday night but should be perfect for today through the weekend! Water temps are dropping with these chilly nights and the water temps won’t be warming up too much throughout the day. The Winooski could still use another day or two to clear, it’s at a reasonable level right now but the clarity is still pretty poor. The majority of the mid sized tribs are perfect right now, the Dog, Mad, Gihon, and North Branch would all definitely be worth checking out this weekend, as well as the mainstem of the Lamoille. The small mountain streams will be in great shape as well.
We’ve been catching fish on a mix of dries, nymphs and streamers. The hopper bite has still been excellent in certain areas, and nymphing and streamer fishing will work just about everywhere. We’ve hit a couple awesome BWO hatches and there’s been a ton of fish feeding on the surface. Small soft hackles on the swing, behind a streamer or even fished a couple feet below a hopper have been crushing it as well. The conditions are about as good as they could get, so make sure you get out and hit the water this weekend!
